The parks have some of the best food and restaurants in the bubble…so how was it without them? It was delicious, actually!
First night we arrived late and ate a late dinner at the All Stars Resort food court. My mom got a greek salad with grilled chicken, and i got the greek salad no chicken. Man! This this was amazing! Honestly, it was so good. It has chick peas, olives, feta cheese, tomatoes, cucumbers and the best lemony vinaigrette dressing ever. I would 100 percent get his again and again! The grilled chicken on my moms greek salad was dry and inedible. She just took it off. Total miss on Disneys part. My daughter ordered the kids mac and cheese and liked it. It was just he regular Disney Mac and cheese; a total staple on our trips.
Monday Morning –
We decided to try out Sanaa at Animal Kingdom. I kept reading that Sanaa was a quick service restaurant in the mornings only, but I could not find a menu or any information about it on the My Disney Experience App, So i was a bit nervous that we would show up and get laughed out of the building. But. no, that didn’t happen. They were indeed open for breakfast. It was kind of fun because you have to order a the bar! I’m not a drinker or a party girl, so I’ve never actually ordered something at a bar before. haha It was super fun. I even sat on a bar stool while we waited.
My daughter and I split the breakfast platter with eggs, sausage, bacon, potatoes, and a little corn cake, and we split the banana bread french toast. My mom got the gluten free Mickey Waffles with a side of sausage. Oh my, this was so worth the ride out to Animal Kingdom. The breakfast potatoes were so perfectly seasoned. The banana bread french toast was super moist and all things perfect about banana bread. It had a raspberry sauce on the plate that was sooo tart and sweet and delicious!
Sanaa overlooks one of the savannas at Animal Kingdom. It has a whole wall of floor to ceiling windows with tables right next to them. Since it was morning and quick service, we got to choose what table we wanted and there were several right by the window. The table we chose happened to be right by where they put the food out for the animals! We were literally eating breakfast with the antelope and zebras. It was true Disney magic. We also saw giraffes hanging out and walking the perimeter with a wildebeest buddy. That was adorable! I would 100% do this again. The food, service, and atmosphere were all over 100%.
Monday Lunch – After all of the fun at animal Kingdom Lodge, my daughter and I tapped into Animal Kingdom to activate our annual passes. We just had to make the trek to Pongu Pongu for the nightshade Slushie. It was delicious! Sweet and tart and loads of boba on top. Totally worth the walk. After animal kingdom we went to Port Orleans to check it out and grab some Mickey beignets. Once we got there we realized that we needed to eat lunch first. It was pushing 2:00 and we had breakfast at 9:30. My mom got a salmon plate with rice and green beans, my daughter got chicken caesar salad and I uncharacteristically got an Italian Po Boy. to my surprise.. it was delicious! The bread was super soft, the meat wasn’t overly salty and the lettuce and tomato were fresh and crispy. After all that we were ready to snack on some beignets. Oh man, they are thick and delicious! We got the caramel dipping sauce and it wasn’t even needed. The mickey shaped beignets were perfect on their own. So tasty and delicious! ANd we had a contest to see who could get the most powdered sugar on them without trying! haha It’s a really fun experience. ANd you can see all of the other tables in the food court that also ordered the beignets because there was powdered sugar everywhere!
Monday Dinner –
After our tai chi and tour around the Poly, we wanted to have dinner at Kona, but we didn’t want to wait for the reservation, so we made a reservation at The Grand Floridian Cafe and took the monorail back over there. My daughter and I split the steak with potatoes and asparagus and the apple salad. The salad was delicious, and so was the steak, but the highlight was the delicious potatoes. They were perfectly crips and perfectly salted. My mom also got the apple salad and the butter nut squash soup, which she loved. They put something crunchy on top and she could not stop talking about how it really elevated the soup. Everything was so delicious! The restaurant was gorgeous and the service was fantastic. We even saw a couple on a date disney bounding as belle and the beast. She was wearing a yellow dress, and he had on a blue suit. It was adorable!
We had so much delicious food, and this was only one day! Stay tuned for Tuesday!
