There you are, enjoying your day in the great and wonderful parks of Disney World when you realize that you just can’t eat another bite! Maybe you realize that you have to ride 7Dwarfs Mine train in 30 min, and you want the lunch you are eating to settle a bit first? Or maybe you’ve just realized that your kids have been eating Mickey shaped snacks all day and need to save room for that DIning Reservation you woke up at 4am to procure?
The easiest thing to do is to just throw it all away! Yay! Vacation Math! But, honestly, we are not all Elon Musk. We have a budget to stick to and braces and kids dance classes to pay for! So what can you do? You can be prepared with various snack and food containers.
The quickest and easiest will be the ever humble re-sealable sandwich bag. Just stuff whatever you are eating into a couple of those and be on your way! They are very light, cheap, and barely take up any space in your park bag, or you luggage from home. It will be wisest to bring a couple of different sizes, and a couple of each of those different sizes.
Also, plop a sharpie in the bag too. Especially if you have multiple children who all want their chicken tenders and not their sibling’s chicken tenders. Pro Tip: If you are saving something fried, like chicken nuggets, wrap them in a napkin before you put them in the baggie. It will help them be less soggy.
Also Pro Tip: Unrefrigerated meat can last 2 hours… maybe less in the florida heat. This tactic is more for show. Sometimes kids get upset that you are throwing away thier precious chicken nuggies. Don’t worry, by the time they get to the next ride, they will forget.
The next best thing is going to be stackable tubber ware. You can fit two or three together with the lids inside without taking up too much space in your park bag. Put it on the bottom of your bag, so they take up less space. Once they are full, also keep them at the bottom of your bag to keep the balance even in the bag. You dont want it tipping over every time you set it down.
I would stay away form the metal tubberware on your trip for three reasons:
1)Security- Disney security works by somehow measuring the amount of metal you have on you or something? Anyway, you will be pulled over and searched if you have metal containers in your bag.
2) Heat- As I’m sure you know by now, Florida gets very hot. If you have a metal container, it will also get very hot. Especially if you leave your backpack sitting on the stroller in the sun. Or, if you leave it open and exposed to the sun while you are sitting on a bench waiting for your family. Plastic will also get warm too, but not like metal.
3) Weight – The weight of the metal tubberware is just naturally heavier than the plastic. I mean, not by much, but every little bit counts. It’s kind of crazy how heavy your park bag can get with just a collection of very light things. And the longer the day goes on, the heavier your bag seems to get.
