Breakfast at Satuli Canteen

Thursday we started at Animal Kingdom. We went a little earlier than our friends and had breakfast at Satuli Canteen. I had heard this was a delicious breakfast, and they were right. I went ahead and ordered three of the four items.

The beef and frittata was the star of the whole breakfast, honestly. The beef is wood fired in a chimichurri sauce and it's incredibly delicious, fresh and cooked to perfection. It came with a little salad on the side that was dismal, though it did look good on the plate. The frittata tasted like it had been sitting there for a while and was kind of rubbery. The flavor was good, so I had a bite or two, but the texture was horrid.

The cinnamon french toast was also delicious. It tasted like a cinnamon roll in french toast form, light and fluffy but also dense in all the best ways. The blueberry cream cheese was delicious, as was the passion fruit anglaise, there just wasn't enough of it! We went looking for syrup when we ran out, but we couldn't find any. They may have had some if we'd asked, but we only checked the drinks and condiments station. Maybe next time. Because of that, we abandoned the dish about three quarters of the way through.

The Tropical Pandoran Forest Fruit was a surprise hit. I got it so we could have some fresh fruit, and it was delicious. The one I got wasn't yogurt, though, it was more like yogurt mixed with oats, closer to an overnight oats situation, and I was glad for it. The muesli on top added a delicious crunch and the fruit was top notch, really special for a theme park: kiwi, strawberry, and pineapple. It also came with a blueberry compote. I kept it all separate and loved each part of it.

We were so full after this! It was a hearty and rich breakfast.

Flight of Passage and Expedition Everest

We met up with our friends after breakfast and rode our Lightning Lane for Flight of Passage. We really felt in character after just having eaten at Satuli Canteen! I can't say enough how much I love this ride and how fun it is. My water jet on my banshee was broken, and I wasn't even mad about it. It detracted a little from the experience, but not enough to move the needle on the ride.

After Flight of Passage we rode Everest again. This time I wasn't nearly as nervous. During the backwards part, I just pressed my head against the headrest and went with it. At one point it even felt like we were going forward! Then came the huge drop and the rest of the super fun ride. I love the first and last third, and I'll tolerate the backwards part so I can ride with everyone else and enjoy the other two thirds. A favorite now, for sure.

We still had Epcot topiaries, more snacks, and a nighttime lap on Test Track ahead of us that day. Part 2 lands Thursday, September 24, right here.
