Booking Weirdness at the All Stars

Extra room availability trick.

We finally got together with our friends and booked our trip! I feel so much more relaxed knowing this is planned. We usually stay at the All Stars, but they were booked up this close to our travel dates. Or were they? I wound up booking a standard village room at Coronado Springs for a pretty great rate. But then I was playing around with rooms and I realized something.

The Trick: Toggle Between Sale and Rack Rate

For example, I was first searching under their 25% off springtime promotion.

The best deal was Coronado Springs. But when I hit that other rectangle, the one that just ominously says "Room":

The price raised for Coronado Springs. But if you click on the section with your dates and party to change your search, and hit "All Resort Hotels":

The value hotels pop up at their regular rack rate! All Star Sports was out of rooms for their 25% off promotion, but they had plenty of rooms left at their rack rate.

The Payoff

I just saved over $50 a night by shopping rooms that are not on sale. So if all rooms seem booked, always make sure to toggle between sale and not on sale, because an All Stars rack rate room will always beat a deluxe resort with a discount.
