A Trip Just for the Two of Us

Just me and my mom. No big group, no must-do list, no compromises to make with anyone else. That was the whole plan, and I was already thrilled about it before we even left. We flew out on a Saturday afternoon, landed in Orlando that evening, and grabbed an Uber straight to All-Star Sports.

Dinner Was Handled, So We Kept It Light

We had already eaten at the airport, so we were only hungry, not starving, by the time we got to the hotel. My mom is gluten-free, so instead of ordering full meals we split one order of gluten-free chicken nuggets and fries from the food court. Nothing fancy. Just something to share before bed.

Okay, but they were SO good. Crispy, fresh, with almost a cornbread flavor to the breading, not the sad, soggy gluten-free nuggets you brace yourself for. My mom flat out said they were the best gluten-free chicken nuggets she has ever had. That is a huge compliment coming from hotel food court nuggets, trust me.

A Tiny Moment I Do Not Want to Forget

We unpacked, got settled, and got ready for bed. Here is a little detail I want to remember forever: I did not want that stale food smell lingering in the room overnight, so around 11pm I walked down the hall, by myself, to toss the trash in the outside can. And I felt completely safe doing it. Alone. At 11pm. That right there is exactly why I love this place so much. The little things really do add up.

Day one was not glamorous. No parks, no big adventure, just a flight, an Uber, unexpectedly amazing chicken nuggets, and a good night’s sleep before the real trip began. I was already so ready for the next four days.
